Looking for last-minute gift ideas for the runner on your list?
We conducted an informal social media survey to find out what’s at the top of runners’ lists this year. Here’s what we found out:
By far, running shoes were the most requested item. And it’s no wonder, as they’re also the most necessary item for a runner, as well as one of the higher-priced. However, a seasoned runner is very picky about the type of shoe he or she uses. As for a new runner, if they haven’t yet been fitted for proper running shoes, they should. So the best bet may be a gift card to a local running specialty store.
Right up there with something to run in was somewhere to run. Race fees can add up, and would be a fantastic gift for any runner. Some race organizers even offer gift certificates. Find out which races your runner may be eyeing in the coming year, and surprise them with the knowledge that now all they have to do is train!
Good shades are a must for runners, and goodr Running Sunglasses are the hot ticket item this year. They offer UV400 protection and polarized lenses. Their frames are no-slip and no-bounce. And with color names like Donkey Goggles, Iced by Yetis, and Sunbathing with Wizards, these sunglasses are both stylish and affordable.
Running watches are convenient for several reasons, not the least of which include GPS tracking, mileage and timing, and even heart rate monitoring. Two of the newer trackers are the Fitbit Ionic and the Garmin Forerunner 235. Both include the features already mentioned, in addition to phone and message notifications, and sleep tracking. The ionic also offers a music player, via a mp3 app or Pandora and a bluetooth connection.
It may sound boring, but believe it; good running socks are appreciated. There are several brands to choose from, such as Feetures, Balega, and Swiftwick. These, too, come in many colors and functions, such as compression or cushioning. Really, runners cannot have too many pairs of good running socks!
